The Book of Job, from the King James Bible

The Book of Job, from the King James Bible

Harry Duncan, 1944

Description

Juror Notes

Not a perfect book, this has some faults of the amateur bookmaker, which find compensation in its qualities of vigor, unorthodoxy, and personal spirit. The wood-cuts are given a sense of depth by combining light and heavy makeready. The type and paper match them in strength, but the calf back and gold-sprinkled paper sides of the binding lack the ruggedness of the body.
