Jamesland
Rodrigo Corral Design, New York, New York, 2004
Description
Repackaging this novel as a paperback was a challenge, because the hardcover’s design was so strong. Deer are a very important symbol in Jamesland, so we knew we couldn’t not use one just because there was one on the front of the hardcover. The goal became to present the same elements in a new way.
At one point in the book, the main character, Alice, receives a flyer with an image of a deer on it. Using this scene as a jumping-off point, we created a flyer and had Tamara Staples shoot it on a tabletop like the one in Alice’s dining room.
