MoMA Builds—Capital Campaign
Deka Design, New York, New York, 2001
Description
The MoMA Builds book provides members as well as current and future contributors of the Museum of Modern Art with a remarkable preview of the new building. We chose materials and production techniques that reference the structure of the future edifice. The brushed aluminum cover and metallic silver ink correspond to the same metal of the museum exterior. Abundant white space throughout the pages and the use of tinted varnish relate to the airy gallery interiors and the glass atrium. The book with its overhanging cover and the Japanese-folded pages highlights the process of construction and pays homage to the Japanese architect Yoshio Taniguchi.
