Morgan Stanley Headquarters Information Supergraphics
Richard Poulin Design Group Inc., New York, New York, 1995
Description
Morgan Stanley’s purchase of a 42-story office tower in New York City’s redeveloped Time Square district came with strict new zoning regulations specifying that the building’s exterior carry large-scale kinetic signs. The result is one of the largest information displays in the Times Square area: two 44-foot-high backlit cylindrical world maps highlighting the cities where the brokerage house has offices worldwide. Digital clocks display the corresponding times. Directly above, three 140-foot-long stacked electronic LED ticker boards transmit “real time” information - news bulletins on one board and stock market quotes on the other two. At either end of this display, two 30x60-foot information panels flash charts, graphic images, and related financial information.
