Building in Los Angeles
Greimanski, Los Angeles, California, 1997
Description
Building in Los Angeles collects residential, commercial, and institutional projects in the area designed by SCI-Arc faculty and alumni. Originally published in 1994 for an annual meeting of the AIA in Los Angeles, this updated version features a cover that folds out to become a poster-sized “map” of the region. The poster uses the topographic language of the Raven map and separates the geographic area into eight sections. Intended for recruitment, the publication had to be inexpensive to produce, yet include 187 projects. The audience includes those who want to use the guide to research new work in Los Angeles as well as high school students in other parts of the country who might be attracted by the bold, colorful poster design. As part of a celebration of the school’s twenty-fifth anniversary, the publication demonstrates how both the faculty and the alumni have contributed to and changed the built environment of Los Angeles.
