Lumiere Press is devoted to publishing limited-edition books on the art of photography. The work and philosophy of Paul Caponigro was explored in this volume through an interview with the artist and a survey of his work. The nature of Caponigro’s pictures, transformations of landscapes and still lifes into metaphysical “equivalents” encouraged a design whose keynote elements have an aura of ambiguity. The palette of the book was chosen to complement the luxuriousness of Caponigro’s printmaking, and the cover design was an allusion to one of the photographs in the book.

The 50 books of 2009 encompass a range from one-color printing on recycled paper to this fine example of the book builder’s craft.
