We devoted the first two spreads to illustrate immediately the seemingly conflicting ideas of the story: that the United States will control space through arms while space defense will ensure global peace. The first image, an ephemeral composition of stars in the colors and shape of an American flag, is sharply contrasted on the next page with a stark illustration of a peace sign composed of space weapons. The illustrations immediately and clearly indicate the concept of the story and allow the designs on the subsequent pages to be much more informational and descriptive.
