Project brief: The challenge was to fashion the artist’s unique, graphic illustration style into a fun, accessible, lighthearted picture book that would make everyone smile—and have money left over for a mirror!

Approach: I chose a simple, graphic typeface that complemented the simple, graphic style of the illustrations. At the appropriate moments in the story, the characters interact with the type in a playful way and occasionally, the text mimics the illustrations in a playful manner, such as where it hops.

Effectiveness: With a lot of late nights and tumbling tomfoolery, this book achieved being silly!

Bright, bold and, well...silly. Everything a kids’ book should be.
